Field trip!

I got to go with Macy on her field trip. Her class went to the junior livestock auction and show! It was fun, and the kids were adorable!  The 4-h kids and the FFA kids... It's official! I NEED my kids to raise and show animals! I LOVE IT

My group, Hannah, Sadie, Rainey, and May May

 Checking out the lambs

 Eating some lunch

And Lindsey got to come! Fun times!

Weekend Projects

It's been a little slow working on the house this month, but the last two weeks we got a little push when our cabinets were installed!  This is this weekend's projects.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE how everything is turning out! I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to leave this house

Window trim in the living room.  Using up our huge pile of barnwood!

My super cute hutch in the dining room to display all my pretty plates!!! (when I ever get some! :) )
I seriously love this hutch. It is just what I had envisioned in my head.  I am so impressed with Scott,...one of his many talents is that you can wave your hands around in the air describing what you want and he makes it happen!  LOVE IT!

Barnwood wall in the entry by the stairs
 Living room mantle!

Amd just for fun.....who needs to go camping, when you can cook like this in your own home! haha...tonight's specialty: Chili

Recital

Piano recital last night!  They both were nervous but you wouldn't have guessed it by watching. They performed great, and tried their best! So proud of these two!  And their amazing teacher, sister Hansen, she is the BEST!

We need to work on our "smile" faces, apparently! haha

Hair!

I was going to trim the girls' hair tonight, and I jokingly said to Macy, "want me to just cut it up to your shoulders??" and she said,..."YEAH!"  I tried to back pedal, and give her an out and she just said,..."Mom it's just hair, it will grow back!"  And she was SET! Well I got done cutting Macy's and then Lucy saw and wanted hers done too!  So I cut off ALL my babies' hair tonight, for the first time EVER having them with short hair!  I think it was harder for me than them!  But I think they look so grown up, and still adorable :)

Kitchen Counters

We have been busy getting ready for and doing our kitchen counters!  SO EXCITING!!! I might actually have a kitchen again!! YIPPEEEEE!

On our island and bar, I really wanted butcher block. But it is REALLY expensive, so we made our own redneck version :) We took all the 2x4's from our forms, lined them up and nailed/glued them together!  VOILA!  we ground them down a  bit then had an adventure with apoxy.....TBC

 Here's the counter before apoxy...
I love my hanging colander light :)
here's the first layer of apoxy. Looks pretty awesome, but we had to do the bar two times because we messed up the first layer.  BUT they both turned out beautiful so I can't complain

Scott and nick did the concrete tops.  I LOVE how they turned out!
