This week we spend a couple days up near Yaak, Montana. Scott and lane went up on wednesday and i went up on thursday night. Scott's brother Jason, rented a cabin up there to go skiing and we crashed there for a few nights just to come hang out and play. There wasn't enough snow around to do any snow mobiling or snow shoeing, so we just hiked a little and saw some sites, and hung out while Jason and his friend went up to the mountain to ski.....
this was at the kootani river falls.....fun little hike, and SOO pretty. It was really cold this day, but the kids did great!

Here's Uncle Jason with Lucy.

Lane fishing...

The Kootani River

Lane leading the way back to the car.....with daddy's sweet hat

We caught a glimpse of the native wildlife....very friendly and fascinating to watch :)

The Kootani falls. This place will be SO SO fun to come back to this summer so we can play in the water and hike some more. So get ready, Cherringtons....you're coming with us :)

Man....where's my kayak!?!?!?
They had a really neat swinging bridge over the river. I wonder what the original one looked like!? YIkes....this one had big strong cables holding it up, but there was still a sign that said "limit....5 people on bridge at one time" Which made us wonder...hmmm...how do they know that 5 is the limit?? Good thing there's only 4 in our family!!

Scott and Lane crossing the bridge. Lane actually LOVED the bridge. His first comment was "wow! it's like the bridge on Shrek!" is that sad that he relates EVERYTHING to something he sees in a disney movie!?? oh well...

ALmost at the end!
Me and lucy's turn. Lucy also loved the bridge. But her first comment was a big gasp when a gust of wind got her in the face :)

scott and lane on a little bridge over the railroad track. The fencing had caved in on the "roof" and lane asked what happened to it. I told him that those were where the bears slept, so the rest of the walk he pointed out that those were the bears' beds :) hee hee I wonder how long those kind of stories will last!

While we were walking over the bridge a train came!!! that was really fun. But kind of trippy when you stood right over the train and looked down it totally looked like the train was going to run right into your feet.
All in all it was a very fun (but short) trip. When i was driving up there on thursday night i saw a family of Elk in the middle of the highway. I thought they were very light colored moose cuz i'd never seen elk before. But i was informed that's what they were when i got to the cabin. We also had a run-in with a deer driving home last night. Actually the deer decided to hit US. Ran RIGHT up from the side of our car and totally plowed into the side of our car!! luckily there was no damage. But i'm not sure about the deer.
Montana is beautiful...and it was only about 2-ish hours from our house, so it made us itching for summer to go camping! This place will be lots of fun in the warmer weather, so look out, Yaak.
The Woods will definately be back!
