Entertainment

So we were wondering, how do you keep your kids entertained while you're cooking dinner? Lane is particularly fond of playing in the sink, but this is getting to be a very messy option.

He also likes to wash my veggies....tonight i just let him wash the WHOLE bag of carrots :)

Lucy is a bit easier. She is mostly content with a blanket and her hanging bear to stare at.
well...stare at and CHEW on of course.

Adventures in Photography

What do we do all day?

What do you think?

Make funny faces at each other and take pictures of them!

Lane is becoming quite the little photographer.

We love when daddy gets home!

Need I say more?

Sleep overs

We had some good friends over for a sleep over this weekend! Lane was in heaven with his friends here to play with! It was lots of fun, and we can't wait to do it again! We love you guys!

Ice Skating

Even though we missed out on the snow this year, our lake still froze over. last time we drilled it was about 14 inces thick! So we had an ice skating/broom hockey party for the youth at church! It was a blast! We played hockey, had a little fire and roasted marshmellows and hot dogs and drank hot chocolate. I think the kids had lots of fun, and there weren't any major injuries! Amazing! I can't wait to get some ice skates now! Our lake will be the most awesome ice skating ring ever!

Broom hockey

Lane had lots of fun on the ice too, he even walked through the middle of the hockey game a couple times and never even got clobbered!

Me and one of the girls.
The kids at church really are great kids. I'm having lots of fun working with them!

yaakity-yaak

This week we spend a couple days up near Yaak, Montana. Scott and lane went up on wednesday and i went up on thursday night. Scott's brother Jason, rented a cabin up there to go skiing and we crashed there for a few nights just to come hang out and play. There wasn't enough snow around to do any snow mobiling or snow shoeing, so we just hiked a little and saw some sites, and hung out while Jason and his friend went up to the mountain to ski.....

this was at the kootani river falls.....fun little hike, and SOO pretty. It was really cold this day, but the kids did great!

Here's Uncle Jason with Lucy.
Lane fishing...
The Kootani River

Lane leading the way back to the car.....with daddy's sweet hat

We caught a glimpse of the native wildlife....very friendly and fascinating to watch :)

The Kootani falls. This place will be SO SO fun to come back to this summer so we can play in the water and hike some more. So get ready, Cherringtons....you're coming with us :)

Man....where's my kayak!?!?!?

They had a really neat swinging bridge over the river. I wonder what the original one looked like!? YIkes....this one had big strong cables holding it up, but there was still a sign that said "limit....5 people on bridge at one time" Which made us wonder...hmmm...how do they know that 5 is the limit?? Good thing there's only 4 in our family!!
Scott and Lane crossing the bridge. Lane actually LOVED the bridge. His first comment was "wow! it's like the bridge on Shrek!" is that sad that he relates EVERYTHING to something he sees in a disney movie!?? oh well...
ALmost at the end!

Me and lucy's turn. Lucy also loved the bridge. But her first comment was a big gasp when a gust of wind got her in the face :)

scott and lane on a little bridge over the railroad track. The fencing had caved in on the "roof" and lane asked what happened to it. I told him that those were where the bears slept, so the rest of the walk he pointed out that those were the bears' beds :) hee hee I wonder how long those kind of stories will last!

While we were walking over the bridge a train came!!! that was really fun. But kind of trippy when you stood right over the train and looked down it totally looked like the train was going to run right into your feet.

All in all it was a very fun (but short) trip. When i was driving up there on thursday night i saw a family of Elk in the middle of the highway. I thought they were very light colored moose cuz i'd never seen elk before. But i was informed that's what they were when i got to the cabin. We also had a run-in with a deer driving home last night. Actually the deer decided to hit US. Ran RIGHT up from the side of our car and totally plowed into the side of our car!! luckily there was no damage. But i'm not sure about the deer.
Montana is beautiful...and it was only about 2-ish hours from our house, so it made us itching for summer to go camping! This place will be lots of fun in the warmer weather, so look out, Yaak.
The Woods will definately be back!
