Trajedy

Sooo..... here's the story run down........Lane has a 4 wheeler.....scott accidently ran it over and FORGOT to destroy the evidence.......here's the aftermath.....

Lane finds it.....i hear him crying outside.....i go out and he's got a handle-bar in his hand and crying....."It's broooooooooooooooke!!!!!"

Totally destroyed.....UNFIXABLE......

So lane decided to find a screw driver to try and fix it.....poor guy, i finally convinced him that it wasn't fixable and that we just had to buy a new one.....he took it alot better than I thought...

Projects

Well this week has been busy at the house...

Lane helped uncle nick plumb my utility sink.....which is GREAT because now i don't have to do my dishes in the bathtub upstairs anymore!! WOO HOOOO moving up in the world

Here's the finished fireplace and mantle....LOVE IT

Here's the wagon wheel light for over the stairs......it's actually finished now and hanging up, but i forgot to take a picture of it before I left... it's totally cute.

Scott has the bar in the kitchen built but i forgot to take a picture of that too.....so this week we need to finish the bar, build the vanity for downstairs bath and our bath upstairs, finish our shower, then we're ready for our flooring

YAAAY

Just a day at the beach.....

Saturday we went and hung out at the beach with our friends. Lane LOVES it....I LOVE it.....Grizzly LOVES it! everyone except for Scott.....who stayed home to work on the house (sorry honey!!!) BUT anyways.....we had lots of fun and plan to take permanent resident on the beach this summer.

Just a view from part of the beach...it was such a beautiful day!
Our friends' dad was there with his kayaks, and Lane got to go on TWO rides....which is ironic becuase they were both with other men. I see a trend. *I* have kayaks.....but will he let ME take him on rides? OHH no....so far, he would ONLY go with Daddy...no with uncle Jim....and michael?!?!?! Who is all of 8!??? what the hek....

enjoying an icey pop thing

Saved!

Me and Lane were driving home and almost ran over this little guy. We pulled over and saved him, put him back in the water to swim away, and all was well with the universe.......until he got TOO close to Lane and then he was no longer a friend. Oh well
The wildlife count so far at the lake:
Turtles: Unnumerable
Beavers: 2
Bald eagles: 4 (at one time)
Herons: 1
Moose: 2 in our backyard
Cougars: None sighted, tho my neighbor was telling me a few years ago, her friend was coming to visit her and she must have spooked one, becuase one jumped OVER the hood of her car when she was driving down our road. YIKES
Bears: none sighted.....by us.......but we heard of a sighting by our friends house...but it could very well have been their massive dog Tubby.

lights, doors, and rocks

Here's my hangy lights in the kitchen. I LOVE them. Two are over the bar that doesn't exist yet, and one over the sink. They are so cute
This is our outhouse door that Scott made. *I* did help...i drew the shapes....:) This door goes on the pooper room in our master bathroom

Here's the crowning jewel of our main floor. THE FIREPLACE!!! Scott put the rock up this week, and it was a PAIN IN THE BUTT! But it looks totally amazing and i love it. I even got to put a couple rocks up, then i got booted becuase apparently I was not helping correctly :) I didn't mind though.

The two big logs hold the big log mantle.....it is SO SO SO fun, and i cannot wait to hang stocking on it at christmas :)

Warning!!

This light needed to have a warning on the box:
Attention!!! Do NOT attempt to install this light fixture if your name is CAROL!!
I had to attatch and re-attatch the wire nuts on this light at LEAST 7 times to get it all right, but it WORKS!! YAAY. This was only AFTER i almost electricuted myself and my unborn child trying to install the BATHROOM light fixture. Who knew that when the light switch was ON that those wires had power to them, and who knew that when you try to cut wires with power to them that they explode?!??? silly lights.
BUT they all work! so do all my outlets i put in. I'm ready for my electrician certificate :)

This means war....

Ok.....I consider myself a relatively humane person when it comes to animals (depsite the opinion of my sister) BUT I have DRAWN the line this week.

A couple days ago Lane wakes up from a nap crying, which is weird cuz he usually just plays till we go get him. Scott went to check on him and he's crying "CHIPPPMUUUUUNK" Scott reassures him there are no chipmunks in the camper and he's fine. The next morning, i wake up and i hear something on the floor and look up and sure enough there's chipmunk down there! I didnt' think much of it, and just shooed him out. Well this is when it started going down hill. The next day or so, I am having a dream, but i feel something on my chest.....it wakes me up and open my eyes and see this CHIPMUNK running up and down my chest, pretty much laughing and dancing saying "ha ha, what are you going to do about it!!" I totally jumped and he ran offf onto the floor. I didn't scream cuz i didn't want to wake up lane or scott, so i just laid there in shock and denial, and tried to talk myself back to sleep. BUT then i heard something at the foot of our bed, and looked and there was another chipmunk running across our feet and jumped into the window. THAT IS IT!!!! I woke up scott, told him there were wild animals invading our camper and we vacated. That day i went to walmart and bought an entire arsenal of vermin weapons.....including a pack-rat sized snap trap. The check out lady looked at it, and said..."wow....i don't even want to know why you need this" I shook my head in disgust and said...."yeah....we won't talk about it"

Anyways.....to make a long story short, we've set the traps, we've been evicted from the camper, there has been much carnage and blood in our camper, which i won't post for the sake of our young and sensitive viewers...

I feel a little better to know that i've inflicted some damaging revenge on the rodents, but i still cannot sleep in our camper. I DO need to watch what I say though. When we went to put Lane down to bed one night I was looking through our bed, and found yet another chipmunk hiding in our blanket, and lane busts out "STUPID CHIPMUNK" oops.

We haven't been to the camper in two days...i'm a little nervous to go look in there tonight. We might just have to burn it down. This has added some urgency into finishing our house. Which means me and scott are sleeping on the floor with a blanket. And I"m going to play the pregnant card, and say That ain't right!!!!! But i guess i'll take sleeping on the floor to sleeping with the rodents cuddling next to me.....or ON me....

Toe jam

Lane seems to be at his peak funny-ness at church these days.....here's a couple of lane funnies from church:

Background: I don't know why we taught our son about toe jam, BUT we did. So his nightly ritual includes cleaning out his toe jam, which he thinks is just about as fun as 4-wheeling. So in sacrament meeting one day he takes off his shoes and socks cuz he was hot, and i wasn't really paying attention. The next thing i know it's the dead quiet of sacrament, and I hear Lane's little voice LOUDLY annoucing "EWWWWWWWWW TOE JAAAAAAAM" i looked down and he's spreading his toes out and cleaning his toe jam. I tried to quiet him and explain we only do toe jam at night, but he keeps going, "MORE TOE JAM.....MORE TOE JAM!!" I gave up on quieting him becuase I had to keep MYSELF from busting up laughing.

Today during sacrament meeting we were singing some an opening hymn and lane likes to "sing" with the congregation. Though, instead of singing what we were singing he was singing rousing versions of "E-i-e-i-ooooo" "with a moo moo here and a moo moo here>..." i think he got through about 5 animals during our hymn. I'm just grateful that he is willing to participate :)

Seriously??

OK, So i consider Lane a pretty tough kid. He can run up hills, wrestle with his dog, fall on his face and not even blink an eye, beat up all the other nursery kids without even breaking a sweat, eat a "skunk flavor" jelly belly bean and ask for more.......TOUGH! Well i'm starting to rethink this label for him because he is TERRIFIED of bugs. Case in point: we were on a walk today and he was lagging a little bit behind, then he started shreiking and i thought he was in pain so i ran over to him and he was holding out his finger, and this tiny little any was crawling on his finger and you would have thought that it was the devil himself trying to kill the poor child! Case number two: we were out playing/working outside and lane was playing on a ladder that was on the ground, having a great time, then ALL of a sudden he JUMPS out of the ladder, and runs over to us crying. Getting used to the "bug" cry, we didn't really react, then he comes over to us with the familiar "buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug"!!!!! Oh lane....what are you going to do when you see a MOOSE in our back yard??

more updates

Here's some more random updates of the house and stuff:

The master bedroom, outlets are in (thanks to yours truly. I am an electrical GENIOUS!) lights in, woods done, ready for carpet.
Lane's room all trimmed out.

nursery all trimmed out. All the rooms on the second floor are ready for carpet now. WOO HOO!

Here's what all our interior doors look like. yeah, we're a little obsessed with wood...i know i know. :)

this is the "spare" room. Scott said i couldn't leave it white, so I threatened purple. I wasn't kidding. i LOVE it! everytime i pass it it makes me laugh. I would totally move into it if i didn't love my jetted tub so much.....and my husband......but seriously...what a fun room this is!!

Purple room trimmed out. Scott calls it the purple nightmare. WHATEVER

the front of the house, with NO scaffolding, finally! Scott finished the gable siding! Looks great.

Close up of the "shake" in the gable.....fun huh

Here's Grizz. He's getting big. He's such a good dog, we love our grizzly bear. Lane even has songs he sings about him. Very cute.
So our next projects are, rocking the fireplace/chimney, building the bar/bathroom vanities (log of course), picking out counters/tile for kitchen walls, and wood floors. Then we're ready for carpet, then we're DONE DONE DONE!!! well i'm getting ahead of myself, we probly still have a good two months but that's ok.

Cabinets and such....

We got our kitchen cabinets last week! WOO HOO!! Overall I am happy with them. I love the color, and I think the wood is pretty, and it goes well with the pine. BUT we ordered them to have "heavy wear" or sanding so they look worn. Well they didn't do very much, so it looks kind of random, and not as rustic as we wanted. The wood is a little more fancy than we were expecting having ordered "Knotty rustic hickory" SOO as my sister says, we'll just have to settle with that "new cabinet" look :) Which is great. I love all the space, and they're made reallly well. I will have PLENTY of drawers and cubbards, which i love. YAY for new kitchens!!

I love the bumped up corners. I especiallly like the green "dinasour" on the wall :) (practicing for Lane's Camo room)

you can kind of see the "wear" but the picture didn't do a very good job showing it......anyways....they're great! we're going to put tile above the counter, and Pine above them (which is in, i just didn't put a new pic) I think our kitchen is going to look really awesome when it's all done and the bar is in, so i'm really happy!

Speedy

This is Speedy. Speedy is our new pet chipmunk. Speedy is FEARLESS, and he likes to come in the house at least once or twice a day. He sits on the deck and waits for someone to leave the door open and then bursts inside and hides. It usually takes us half the day to kick him back out. Lane and Speedy are NOT friends. In fact, Lane is terrified of Speedy. We saw him sitting outside our kitchen door hanging on the screen, waiting for us to let him in and Lane just about had a coronary. It took me about 15 mins to calm him down enough that he would let me put him down! This is the best picture I could get of Speedy, because.....well.......the name says it all.

Betrayal

this is actually a really old story, I just kept forgetting to post it. I bought this fish for Lane's bath. It's cool, it's like a hand held shower kind of. Lane thought it was awesome and loved having fishey rinse him off after baths. Well, one day we were working on drywall i think, and we hear this screaming from the bathroom, and then Lane RUNS into the room we were working in screaming a crying "fiiiiisheeeeeeeeeeeeeey"!!!! Then i heard the water running and looked at lane and he was soaking wet. I just busted up laughing (much to lane's dismay....he wanted JUSTICE!!!!) So I went in the bathroom and lane had been playing with the faucet running and pulled the little knob that turns the shower on, and poor fishey was thrashing around spraying the whole bathroom. It was pretty helarious, but no more fishey for lane.....he was terrified after that. If i even mention fishey he gets mad.....talk about holding a grudge!

lumber jack in training

Here's Lane helping daddy limb some logs we're going to use for handrails....he's getting quite handy with the chainsaw.

Lane is such a good little helper....i love it. He helped me load up the wheelbarrel all day on saturday to haul stuff to the fire, he LOVES to be outside, and is becoming quite the adventurer. I've caught him trying to go down the driveway to the pond, and wandering off into the trees, and climbing up huge hills......it's actually kind of fun becuase he's going to be a GREAT hiking partner :)

Easter 09

We did an Easter egg hunt at the Terry's this year. Lane had fun looking for eggs....and eating candy....:)  Happy Easter!
