Let there be logs!

Friday and Saturday Scott and Nick started to put up the logs that hold the deck roof up. They are AWESOME!!! Those two boys are pretty buff cuz some of those logs are pretty huge.

Scott also has some mad chainsaw skills. He notched the bottom of the logs so they hang over the deck. That way when we put the trim on it will look like the logs go all the way thru.

The front of the house. We haven't stripped the logs yet. We probly won't till spring when they're a little more dried out.

Today and tomorrow they'll get the rest of the logs up, and the deck roof on. Wednesday hopefully we'll install our windows and doors :) YAY

Happy Boy

Lane loves to play with his Daddy. He thinks it is the funnest thing in the world. Sometimes when lane is really tired, he gets a little slap happy and will find something TOTALLY helarious. This time it was riding on Scott's back around the house and scott would run into stuff and Lane would just crack up! I tried to catch some of the laughing shots but i'm a little slow. Pretty funny stuff tho.

This one he was rolling down the stairs and thought that was pretty funny too.

The Loft

We did a bonus room/loft over the 2nd story, and finally got to see what it looks like with our trusses up! I LOVE IT, it turned out really big actually so we're excited. It runs the length of the house front to back, and is a little over half of the width of the house......we're going to make it a rec room for now.....and if we need to put a few bedrooms up there later we can. YAY for the loft!!

Views from the windows in the loft

Raise the Roof!!!

YAY we got our trusses today, we got them rolled out AND no one fell off!!! it was a good day. The boys started sheeting it even! Now we need to finish sheeting, and put up the roof over the porch (it goes between the top and bottom windows).....it's going to look SOO SOoo soo cute when it's done i can't even wait!
View from behind the house

View from backyard

The boys up on the roof. They are brave....I got a little taste of it though, i got to walk on on the trusses and lean out over the edge to help scott put some sub-facia on (the board at the bottom of the roof) SOO that was enough for me

OOPS!!!

Sooo this is our deck.......after me and Payton got to it!!! OOPS!!! We unloaded a bunk of plywood onto it, and against my better judgement we didn't make TWO piles......but then Payton knocked out one of our supports and the deck came crashing down......

Good news: it's fixable. Bad news: We have to fix it......when we have 10,000 other things to work on. Oh well. Scott is amazing and can fix anything,....right?? :)

Stay tuned......

Tomorrow we get trusses, so we should have a roof tomorrow!!! :) WOO HOO!! We should also be getting our windows/doors this week too.....so hopefully we'll have some good progress pics this week!

We can Bathe!!

Our tubs came in this week! WOO HOO! So we got tub/surround combos for the downstairs bath and for the kid bathroom upstairs. They have fake tile which is a little cheezy but i liked it better than the flat white. Here's a close up of tub.....(plus some saw dust and dirt...)

Here is the tub in the upstairs kid bathroom. There will be a toilet in front on the right, then a vanity in front of the toilet. Door on the left wall.

Tub in the downstairs bathroom. Pretty much the same as the upstairs one but the pooper and vanity on the left side this time. Door on the right.

AHhhh and the grand finale!!! *MY* tub......my beautiful corner jetted tub. It's fabulous, and i LOVE IT.......
Me basking is my wonderful tub...... This pic doesn't do it justice....i can practically lay down in this thing and have water up to my chin......

YAY!

Like Father Like Son

Lane LOVES his daddy.....he wants to be just like him, and mimics his every move.....literally! Here he is demonstrating his emerging carpentry skills. Lane is fascinated with tools, and helping us work on the house. So we let him loose with a hammer....
He's watching Scott to see how to do it.......
Then he goes for it.
We had to trade him hammers cuz he was getting mad at the big hammer.

SERIOUS concentration pose.

He got the hang of it pretty well!
What a good helper!!

Cheese!!

We're working on Lane smiling on command for the camera. Here's his version of "cheese" Not too bad for a little guy.

Bucket head

Lane found yet another way to ride his 4-wheeler.....with a Lego bucket!!

Orange smiles!

Lane learned the art of Orange Smiles last night.....he's a natural........

Ahhhhhhhhh......Hot!

Scott showed Lane how to warm his hands by the wood stove. So now everytime Lane walks past the fire he stops and puts his hands out and says...."ahhhhhhh.......hot" and rubs his hands together.....it's pretty funny... but still didn't keep him from burning one of his little fingers the other day. :( sadness. BUT our new house will have an enclosed wood stove, that looks like an actual fireplace, but heats like a wood stove.......so it won't be as scary for little kids to play in our living room.

How many ways??

How many ways has Lane discovered to ride his 4 wheeler?
1. backwards

2. standing

3. sitting, feet up

4. sitting feet down

5. standing....no hands!!! (usually accompanied by "woo hoo")

The last one concerns me a little bit.....hopefully he grows out of that one before we give him something gas powered to ride.

Virtual Tour #2

OK so here is the 2nd story tour. First, here is a little floor map so it makes more sense when you see these walls with no sheet rock. The hole around the stairs will have a log handrail (see squaw wood post) So there WILL be handrail all the way around it.

I hope you all can read this map

Here's bed 1 at the top of the stairs
Bed 1 and Bed 2
master bed and master bath
Office door in the far corner
My craft nook .....looks are deceiving. I have enough room for a wall to wall shelf/desk and a chair....and floor to ceiling shelves....
Bed 3....to the left of the door will be the stairs going up to the loft/attic/rec room. It will also have log handrail....way cute
So there's my house! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! and once it is done i will never leave it....except to go swimming at the lake, and to my weekly trip to walmart. :) Ok so maybe not, but i am just so grateful for this opportunity and for such a talented husband that can build me a house! it's been fun so far! hopefully we can keep it up!
