Safety First

No...you're not seeing things......this really is a picture taken from the bottom of the stairs looking up, to a plank that goes accross the stairway opening, where Scott is standing on a ladder precariously balanced on said plank and a few boards....He is putting up the wood on the 2nd floor ceiling in this position.......But that is not the point of this post........ The point is.....that plank has been sitting accross the stair way like this for at least a week.....and we've never had any issues with it....Well today, i was coming down from the attic and i hear Lane start to cry his "i'm scared" cry....which usually is pretty serious because....really....he's a pretty tough kid.....so i quicken my pace down the stairs to see Lane standing stiff as a board in the middle of this plank over the stairs. Apparently he was going out there for someone's pop that was left on the plank, and then realized there was nothing under him and got scared. Luckily, i reached him in time that no harm was done, except to his mother's psyche...... yeah....... I suppose i should get used to this scenario living where i live, and considering my child is half my husband's, who I recall on one of our first dates zoomed past me on his dirt bike standing on the seat with one leg outstretched to the side..........maybe that should have been a red flag to me? :) Nah.

Mud, Glorious Mud!

Today our friends came up to the house, and they have a little boy who is almost 8. Lane LOVES him, and thinks he is awesome. Today, Noah taught Lane that boys are supposed to play in mud puddles. Lane already knew this to some extent....but we have limited it mostly to throwing pebbles in mud puddles. Well......no more of that nonsence for Lane......
it started out innocent enough...splashing in some small puddles in the driveway.....then.....you know the story.......
Here they are running to a BIGGER puddle...

Lane getting in some pretty big splashes.....
minor damage at this point.

Finally heading to the bathtub....i would have let them play longer, because they were having SOO much fun....but it was still a little chilly out....(notice the huge snow piles in the back ground)....so we decided to call it a day.
This is for all those questioning my mothering skills......Yes, I may let my child soak himself in mud puddles in 40 degree weather...but at least he gets a warm bath afterwards :).....and santa beard bubbles.....(this is the functioning bathtub in our house BTW! WOO HOO)

Puppy Love

Well, we did it. We got our first puppy. After a few cat attempts, we decided to try something sturdier :)
meet "Grizzly bear" or "griz" for short.

He actually came with that name, and we liked it. He is about 3 months old, half retriever half boxer. He is very mellow, and doesn't bark, and is SUPER friendly. We LOVE LOVE LOVE him.

Lane is already teaching him all the things that good dogs should know.....like how to carry sticks in their mouth, and how to fetch things.....
Today we walked around the lake to introduce Griz to the other neighborhood dogs. Now we have Jack, Jolie, Tubby and Griz. They are a good gang, and all get along well :) He also got to play with Chance, another friends' dog.....who taught Griz how to roll in all kinds of feces......thanks Chance........we'll definately be screening our play dates from now on.

Good bye Easter egg

So here is my project this week. I got the "kid" bathroom mudded/taped, SANDED, we textured, primed and painted it today. Now Scott can lay the tile tomorrow and we can put a toilet in there on Monday! WOO HOO!!! hello civilization!! The bathtub in there is ready to go, we just need to buy a shower head, and a faucet then we can shower while we stay there! Life doesn't get any better than having a toilet, a shower and HOT water!!! I turned on our hot water the other day and just sat there on the edge of the tub and let it run on my hands for....way too long...

ANYWAYS........Here's my bathroom.
Scott just commented "thats really red" yes, it is.....why? Because my A-frame house looked like a giant Easter egg.....so I am branching out a little and going with some bolder colors. I actualy quite like it....it isn't as red as this picture seems. Our tile is kind of an earthy toned thing......and we're tiling 3 feet up the wall, kind of like a tile wanes-coat.....i've seen it done in a couple bathrooms and i think it looks cool....then our kids can run around wet and i won't care cuz it'll all be tile!! it will look very cute when i am done decorating.......in like 10 years :)

The vanity will got where the ladder is, then a light above the mirror......

I'm not done actually...my caulk around the tub wasn't dry, so i have to finish around the tub tomorrow morning.....
It's fun though, huh.
I'll try and put pics of the tile in tomorrow night.

Tour continued

These pics aren't very exciting, but just a view of the rooms that are closed in now.

This is the kitchen, The two walls with sheetrocks will have cabinets, and T&G above the cabinets. We get our cabinets Mid-April. The wall with the windows will be T&G, and there's also a big bar that will be below the window closest to you. Scott's decided in all his spare time that he wants to make a log bar,......he's an ambitious one......i LOVE it!
Mechanical room....it will pretty much stay like this, we're not going to finish it. But there will be a freezer in there. WOO hoo!

Laundry room/mud room. The mechanical room is in the back/left behind this room.

my SWEET pantry. Floor to ceiling shelves, hopefully i can get my food storage going this summer.

Are you ready for this?!?!

Here's the moment you have all been holding your breath for! Thats right, here's what our T&G looks like on the walls..

Here's the Right side of the living room, there's our fireplace burried behind the sheetrock.

Opposite side of the same room......isn't the pine amazing???

different angle of the right side again......look, it totally looks like a sweet log cabin

living room looking into the dining room area.
There, now you all can see why we were so excited right??? I LOVE IT! It's all starting to come together. Scott has gotten almost the whole 1st floor covered. I've been working hard mudding and taping the second floor sheetrock. Hopefully I can finish before he finishes his T&G (he still has the upstairs hallway and attic) Anyways.....we LOVE IT!

3 years and counting...

We celebrated our 3 year anniversary this week! It's gone by really fast, but we've sure done alot in 3 years! Let's recap: Bought a house, gutted and fixed up that house, started a business, had a baby, rented out our house, bought some property, been homeless, and built (almost) a house! I'd say we're doing pretty dang good. We had alot of fun celebrating....we decided to go stay at this indoor water park place in Idaho. Pretty cheezy but lots of fun on the water slides. We had a nice dinner, got some movie passes, and played at the water park! A great anniversary. Thanks for 3 fun years!! Can't wait to see what the next year brings!
Love you, Scott!

Beginning of the end...

That's right....we got our sheetrock and started hanging it today!! Scott is lucky to have such a buff wife.....I helped him hang everything today, and even learned how to use the new screw gun to screw on the sheet while he cut another one.....it doesn't matter then i only hit the studs behind the sheetrock 75% of the time :) anyways, we got the kid bathroom and the "nursery" all sheetrocked (going back to the build it they will come idea...HA just kidding)

Here's our two piles of sheetrock. Lane is testing out it's durability.

Here is the first sheets hung! WOO HOO!! this is the ceiling in the kid bathroom upstairs.

Here is the front corner of the kid bedroom that will be the "baby"-of-the-moment's room

back corner of the nursery. Lane was a big helper today, helping screw on sheetrock, handing daddy the saw, ripping off the stickers that held the sheetrock together. He is such a cutie, and really loves to be in the action.

Here's the finished bathroom. I get to be the mud/taper......joy :)

Hopefully Monday we'll finish the other two kid rooms, and the laundry room. Tuesday we get our shipment of T&G for the rest of the walls....i'lll post pictures, becuase i know that everyone thinks we are crazy for putting pine on the walls, but TRUST US! it's going to look SWEET! It's got the rustic cabin theme going on. We actually found this awesome rustic furniture store, and got some GREAT ideas for some log furniture and log accent stuff that Scott's going to make........someday :)

If you build it....

They will come.......right??

I decided to test out this old quote by crocheting a baby blanket.....:) Just kidding. I actually just wanted to make one, and i happen to have about 8 friends that are currently pregnant, so i'm sure it will go to good use somewhere.

Actually i forgot one....9 friends that are preggo right now, bringing the grand total to like 14-15 babies that have come since we've been trying for number 2. I'm really not a big complainer, but i'd just like to say for the record, that infertility sucks. There, i said it....now i can move on with my life, and keep crocheting baby blankets......even if they aren't for MY baby :)
