Machines!

We had a little bit of Male Bonding going on around here.....

I'm pretty sure there's nothing cuter than a boy and his daddy in a big digger!

Phase 1

Here's Phase 1 of Lucy's new room.....I decided to go with butterflies.....cuz they're fun :)
3 big butterflies abover her crib

Thank you to the dollar store for the butterflies. They are fairy wings for a costume, and i just made a little body and put antennae on them. YAY. Way easier and cheaper than my original idea...
Window 1

Window 2

So the curtains were a little bit of a pain....I've decided that tulle is a PAIN in the butt to sew or do anything with but i LOVE IT!! I did a layer of this white fabric with purple/pink tull over it with little butterflies on it. Thanks to michaels for the butterflies! To open them, you just scrunch up the white stuff and there's a tie and the tulle stuff just always hangs down.....we'll see how it works, but i think they are cute. And not too bad for just making it up right?
So i've decided that as scary as raising daughters is to me.....re-kindling a love for all things sparkley and shiney is making up for it :) I am not a girly-girl by any means....but it's been fun to dress up Lucy and decorate for her....hopefully someday she likes it?? But if not, at least i had fun when she was a baby :)

Professional

Lucy is now a professional walker. She can start/stop, turn around, stand up in the middle of a room, bend over and pick stuff up without falling. It's SO CUTE!!! She's 10.5 months old. She looks so tiny when she walks which makes it even cuter! I love that she is walking....and hopefully we can potty train her in the next few weeks before the baby comes.....:)

And this is why it's fun having a girl.....you can have matching toenail polish!! :) ha

Introducing..........

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!! I Have a Car again!!! And it runs, and it's big! and it has AWD! What else could I ask for???

How about a DVD player!? Well it would be cool......if it worked....but to start off our ownership in WOOD style....it doesn't :)

But it has nice seats! they are still clean! I'd better wrap them in plastic while I still can....

Great big windshield....love it

Nice storage for a mini van i must say!

Lane demonstrating how MUCH storage......

Isn't it GREAT!?!?!?!

It's a Pontiac Montana.....never heard of them before. BUT we got a SWEET DEAL!
2006
23,700 miles
7 seats
AWD
Got it from the YWCA cuz they didn't need it anymore for an afterschool program they used it for. WOO HOOO
LOVE it so far...too bad 2 trips up the driveway covered it in dirt and dust....oh well...such is the life we live :) I DO need to invest in some good floor mats to preserve the nice (as of now) carpet!

Random

I found some more random pics from when my sister was here. Camping, and settler's day in Deer park....
The fearless camping leaders
Lucy had lots of fun camping.....i found that picnic tables are not conducive to safe booster seat attatchment but we managed.....

mama and lucy

Alan and his crawdad....

Me and my sis.....in touch with nature....

Lucy chillin with cousin Scott

The little boys LOVED helping with the fire.......

Lucy Loo, had a fun day at settler's day in Deer park. It was hot and she didn't get much of a nap, but she was a trooper

Lane in the "penny scramble"

Lucy enjoying the settler's day parade from her stroller..

hey hey hey......GOODBYE

Dear sweet Aframe.......we sold you today. It's official. I would say that I will miss you.....but let's be honest. I won't. You were a WONDERFUL first home, and you sheltered us for 2 eventful years. We started our family in your care and we'll be ever greatful for the good times there. But we grew apart......and after you got turned into a den of iniquity-pot-growing-violence-infested building we had to cut ties. I hope you understand, and I hope your new owner returns you to your former glory and splendor. Good luck little aframe. Thanks again.....and don't worry, our sacrificing you isn't in vain....it's letting us buy a new car since we've been sharing ONE car since June........so thanks again! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

More Caves and Such

Here's a few more pics i found from Gardner caves, and hiking to canada.
Here's lane showing Canada his muscles
The Crew at the border
I thought this was cool. This is the US/Canada border. I think it's kinda neat that they carve a path....you think it's all "patrolled?"

More border pics

More cave pics. This gives you a better idea of what the tour is like. It's all on this metal stairway-path. And you walk in a line and wait for the tour guide to talk. The caves are neat, but I like ones that I can explore on my own.
Everyone being fascinated by the caves...

Lucy wasn't all that impressed with the caves....there were pretty cold....me and her ended up leaving the tour a little early...

One step closer

to what you ask?? GRASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a backhoe here and we worked on leveling our back yard for some grass. Lane thought it was pretty much the funnest thing ever, and even got to work some of the levers. He's pretty much a child genious at the age of 3. :) we got most of the work done with the machine and i have been working on raking and gathering all the sticks and rocks out so hopefully we can plant grass in the next week or so! I would be in heaven if I had some grass next spring! YAAAY

Not sure why scott has "mean guy" face....must be concentrating :)
We got some sweet big boulders out of the yard to use for the retaining wall in the front yard. It will all be really nice and pretty some day :) We still have plenty of fun boulders in the back yard that we are leaving for "climbing" purposes as part of our "back yard o fun" plan.
Part of the digging.....the rocks in this picture are staying, we're going to uncover them for playing purposes...

Pushing another big rock around to the front

I didn't take any pictures of the finished product....I guess I will do that right before we plant grass.....but trust me, it's AMAZING!!! :)

Rediculous

It's kind of rediculous.......

That Scott can make perfect chocolate chip cookies, EVERY TIME he tries.....and that *I* Could not make fluffy cookies to save my everlasting SOUL! EVERY TIME i try to make them, doesn't matter WHAT recipee i use, or how hard i follow the instructions, they are flatter than a board and often are to thin you can SEE through them. Scott tries to assure me that they still "taste" good......but i think i'm officially retiring from chocolate chip cookie making.......forever.......

Wouldn't you, with an amazing cookie making husband like mine?? :)

Museum

Newport has this fun little history museum tha twe went to check out. They have lots of old cabins to explore, an old fire lookout thing, and LOTS of old farm machinery and other typical museum stuff. It was fun to go and see. The boys had a BLAST playing with the old farming stuff.

The little boys had to see how EVERYTHING worked
A little settlers cabin. I could TOTALLY live like this. I wonder if the pioneers look at our day and say the same thing??
Old school house.

Group shot inside the museum on some old church pew
Ann and Nate on the caboose

Lane on an old tractor

Another thing to ride

Lucy ready for school already!

The boys, Lane NOT as excited about school :)

they had an old engine, that honestly I wasn't paying attention to what it was used for...i think something in the lumber mills?? But the kids thought it was fun to climb on :)
