The Cave

So we have this cave outside our property, and it's the COOLEST thing. It is a perfect cougar den.....but it's not occupied. So we like to go crawl in this cave....you can't sit up in it, but you can fit probly 6-7 adults in it. It reminds me of going caving in Kentucky....which was SO FUN squeezing through places with names like "the birth canal" So we all went and played in the cave for a while....lane likes it......Scott says if Lane doesn't make a fort out of it then HE will....

Kyle and Lane in the cave

family photo in the cave......we should use this as our christmas picture :)

other side of the cave.....these shot are all taken at the same time....so everyone's in there at the same time.

Fun, Family, and Four Wheels

Scott's brother came up for thanksgiving with his boys, so we all ventured to our house for tours, and fun. We brought the 4-wheeler (not the snow mobiles??) and all the boys got to ride.

These are Jeff's boys.....the little one in the front totally looks like lane i think. And the one on the right TOTALLY looks like my brother Thad, it's kind of freaky actually.....

Lane FINALLY got to ride......here he's saying "bye bye mom"

These are Scott's brothers (minus one who couldn't come home) They're a motley crew for sure......Scott kind of looks like the crazy cousin from christmas vacation......:) How many men can pull off carharts with a camo jacket and a red lumberjack hat??? He's amazing :)

The kids playing on the big rock by our driveway

SNOW!!!!!!!!!

YIKES!!! we are SO SO SO not ready for snow. BUT it's here so we had to go play in it. Lane actually fit into his 3T snow outfit, that i'm sure will only fit this year. He wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of it. And getting him into it looked alot like Randy's mother stuffing him into his red snow suit in the Christmas story....you know..."i can't put my arms down!!!" yeah......after he got used to it he had lots of fun and thought the snow was amazing.

He especially liked how it tasted.

I think Lane was watching the older boys on the 4 wheeler here. I couldn't get him to look at me. See the yearning, longing look on his face?? Nothing else produces that except motorized vehicles and candy.....

The Roof and stuff

SOOOO we (meaning Scott) got the roof our house!!! It's fabulous, it's metal, and it's green. Good thing he finished putting the ridge cap on the other day cuz it decided to snow that night....so we are officially in a hurry to get everything done so we can insulate, so we don't FREEZE while we're trying to work on the inside. House Update: HVAC is pretty much done (they need to fix some ugly things) Electric will be roughed in next weekend, and plumbing is ALMOST done....after those things we can get our inspection and then put up insulation YAY!

Here the roof is showing it's function: To make the snow slide off....
Here is our fireplace!!! YAAAY we can build fires.....and we did.....and it works GREAT! we are going to put rock around it and build a log mantle and such. The fireplace is not the one we ORIGINALLY bought...that was a fiasco.....BUT we ended up with this one, which isn't as big as the one we wanted, but we can still put pretty big logs in it.....so it's fine....i think it's pretty. We have it set up so that the warm air from it will be circulated with our furnace fan....so it should heat up our house pretty well.

YAY for Christmas!!!!!

yeah yeah yeah, i know. It's not even thanksgiving yet.....

but I DON"T CARE!!!

I LOVE christmas,
i love that it's in the stores, i love that it's on the radio, and i love that I PUT UP MY TREE today!!! Lane and i went for a little walk in the woods and he help me cut down our christmas tree this year. Holding to our charlie brown christmas tree tradition, here's this year version!!

Here's a little christmas craft me and my friend natalie did when she was visiting. These stitcheries are my new love. they're so fast, and easy and cute!

ride em cowboy!

Here's the latest Crochet animal. He's not actually done. He's supposed to have a nose, reins, and a saddle...but i got distracted. At least he's got legs now....he only had 2 for a really long time :)

Ta DA!!!

YAAAY, today we got the porch roof sheeted, and most of our windows installed. Scott let me help put in the windows....i got to stand on the outside (up on the deck roof for the 2nd story windows) And help nail them on. It was fun, and i felt like I accomplished something useful....even tho being on the roof was a little scary. I also got to knock down all our bracing on the porch logs, so it looks more real now :) YAY! We got our back sliding door installed but did not install our front door yet.......we UNWRAPPED the front door, it's beautiful! so we'll put that and the back door up this weekend. And we'll put on the roof this weekend and next week! WOO HOO

For my friends in ohio.....notice anything different about our windows? They don't have little white grids in them...OR fake shutters on the outside. It seems like every window where I grew up in Ohio has grids and shutters.......maybe i'm just crazy :)

Ralfie!

So, I've decided that my little Lane looks JUST like Ralfie. Ralfie from "the christmas story" You know.......the "You'll shoot your eye out!" kid?? yeah........here's my little ralfie helping us work on our house.....or eating....same thing

Me and ralfie :)

Covered Decks!

I have to take this opportunity to tell everyone how amazing my husband is!!!! He is SUCH a hard worker! He has worked SO Hard on our house and it is SOOO awesome! :) Today he got the porch roof all rolled out. He actually got that last side finished, but it was too dark to take a picture. I LOVE our covered deck......it looks SO awesome. Tomorrow's pics will be good cuz all the bracing will be down and the roof sheeted....so stay tuned :)

Let there be logs!

Friday and Saturday Scott and Nick started to put up the logs that hold the deck roof up. They are AWESOME!!! Those two boys are pretty buff cuz some of those logs are pretty huge.

Scott also has some mad chainsaw skills. He notched the bottom of the logs so they hang over the deck. That way when we put the trim on it will look like the logs go all the way thru.

The front of the house. We haven't stripped the logs yet. We probly won't till spring when they're a little more dried out.

Today and tomorrow they'll get the rest of the logs up, and the deck roof on. Wednesday hopefully we'll install our windows and doors :) YAY

Happy Boy

Lane loves to play with his Daddy. He thinks it is the funnest thing in the world. Sometimes when lane is really tired, he gets a little slap happy and will find something TOTALLY helarious. This time it was riding on Scott's back around the house and scott would run into stuff and Lane would just crack up! I tried to catch some of the laughing shots but i'm a little slow. Pretty funny stuff tho.

This one he was rolling down the stairs and thought that was pretty funny too.

The Loft

We did a bonus room/loft over the 2nd story, and finally got to see what it looks like with our trusses up! I LOVE IT, it turned out really big actually so we're excited. It runs the length of the house front to back, and is a little over half of the width of the house......we're going to make it a rec room for now.....and if we need to put a few bedrooms up there later we can. YAY for the loft!!

Views from the windows in the loft

Raise the Roof!!!

YAY we got our trusses today, we got them rolled out AND no one fell off!!! it was a good day. The boys started sheeting it even! Now we need to finish sheeting, and put up the roof over the porch (it goes between the top and bottom windows).....it's going to look SOO SOoo soo cute when it's done i can't even wait!
View from behind the house

View from backyard

The boys up on the roof. They are brave....I got a little taste of it though, i got to walk on on the trusses and lean out over the edge to help scott put some sub-facia on (the board at the bottom of the roof) SOO that was enough for me
